2022-23 Minnesotas Top 10 Wild Prospects – NHL Rumors (2023)

The Wild have done an excellent job in the NHL Draft for the past four years. With four first-round picks in the last two drafts, one top-10 pick and the 12th pickºThe overall pick of previous years and the 28th overall pick, the Wild has a fully stocked closet for those who are interested.

The list includes several players under 25 and recent graduates, including Calen Addison, Matt Boldy and franchise player Kirill Kaprizov. With the plethora of talent in the potential pipeline, the Wild looks to be a strong team today and for the foreseeable future.

  1. Marco Rossi, C – Wild Iowa (AHL)

Change: 21
Height/Weight: 5-9/183
Drafted: 2020 round 9th overall by Minnesota Wild

Rossi has struggled since his draft year, when he led the OHL and CHL as top scorer. His D+1 year was a loss due to a life-threatening injury to him and a battle with COVID. The Austrian returned last year and played in 63 AHL games, three Olympics with Austria and even made his NHL debut in two games.

Considered by many (myself included) as the favorite for the 2023 Calder Trophy as the NHL's best rookie, Rossi has dressed in 16 NHL games, but has only one assist on his tally so far. His performance in the AHL was stellar as he was on his way to one point per game. The Wild's depth at center isn't huge and the team will look to Rossi to become the franchise's number one center for the foreseeable future.

  1. Jesper Wallstedt, G – Iowa Savage (AHL)

Change: 20
Height/Weight: 6-3/214
Produced: 2021 first round 20ºin general of Minnesota Wild

One of the most highly rated goalkeepers in the world, the Sweden 6-3 goalkeeper has been on the radar for years, playing for Sweden in the Hlinka Gretzky, U18, and WJC tournaments, where he won three bronze, one silver, and one gold and was named WJC Best Goalkeeper of 2021.

(Video) MN Wild Have 2 Of Top 15 NHL Prospects RE: The Hockey News! Minnesota Wild News + Updates Today

After two seasons in the SweHL, Wallstedt came to North America and was Iowa's first-choice goaltender. With a 6-7-5 record and 3.11 GAA and 0.899 SV%, he made quick adjustments to a faster pace and ice. smaller. Wallstedt is expected to play the year in the AHL and then compete for an NHL job after he's Filip Gustavsson's contract expires for the 2023-24 season. If not next year, then next season when Marc-Andre Fleury's contract expires.

  1. Danila Jurow, RW – Metalurgica Magnitogorsk (KHL)

Change: 19
Height/Weight: 6-1/172
Produced: 2022 round one 24ºin general of Minnesota Wild

Before the 2022 NHL draft, Yurov was in the top ten for many. The Russian factor was clearly on the line, falling to Minnesota in the 24th draft.ºoverall selection. Yurov, like many teenagers, struggled to find the Ice Age in the KHL in his draft year, but he was dominant in the MHL.

Back in Russia for his D+1 year, he has another division, but will have more time in the KHL if called up and has nine points from 42 games. He still has a hard time playing a regular inning that goes from ten minutes or more to games in which he plays less than a minute! His contract with the KHL is about to expire, so he expects Yurov to move to North America before the end of the season and play his first full season in North America in the AHL next year.

  1. Brock Faber, RD - University of Minnesota (NCAA)

Change: 20
Height/Weight: 6-1/201
Produced: 2020 second round 45ºLos Angeles Kings General

The Minnesota native, who was acquired via trade from Los Angeles in the Kevin Fiala trade, is a freshman and captain of the Golden Gophers. Faber is the type of player with whom you win championships. He's a defensive tackler, a leader, a great skater, he plays physical, he's got size and he's got some offensive advantages as well.

He may not become a prolific offensive defender in the NHL, but he will get big minutes in a top duo role. He has experience with Team USA, having won a WJC gold medal and has two points from five Olympic Games. Faber is now ready for the pro game and will try to lead the Golden Gophers to an NCAA title in the last game of his NCAA career.

  1. Liam Ohgren, LW – Djurgardens IF (HockeyAllsvenskan)

Change: 18
Height/Weight: 6-1/196
Produced: 2022 round one 19ºin general of Minnesota Wild

(Video) Which Minnesota Wild Prospects will make the NHL Roster Next?

The advantage on Ohgren is extremely high. He nearly scored two pace points in his draft year at the J20 level. He played a limited role in the SHL with two points in 25 games, but excelled with nine points in six games against his elite U18 peer group and finished with a gold medal. In his D+1 year he played at the HockeyAllsvenskan level and plays well.

A versatile player of good size and skill, he can play a variety of roles. The NHL projection of him has a top-tier attacking wing ceiling, but he can also take on a two-way midfield role, which also gives him a high level. He is far from a boom and bust player, but the path of development may take time.

  1. Marat Khusnutdinov, C/LW – SKA St. Petersburg (KHL)

Change: 20
Height/Weight: 5-9/165
Produced: 2020 second round 37ºin general of Minnesota Wild.

Now in his third full season in the KHL, Khusnutdinov gets ice time on a regular basis, and his scoring performance we've seen in international tournament shows. In three of his 44 games so far he has played almost ten minutes and has scored 25 points in that time. With one more year on his current KHL contract, he will return for another year before signing with the Wild and moving to North America.

  1. Carson Lambos, LD – Winnipeg Eis (WHL)

Change: 19
Height/Weight: 6-1/196
Produced: 2021 Round 26ºin general of Minnesota Wild.

Lambos was a surprising omission from the Canadian WJC for many. He has good size, mobility, and can dish out significant offense. His recruiting year during the pandemic was a struggle, but he found something of an ice age in Finland.

He returned to the WHL after his draft year and was a key member of the Winnipeg Ice, helping them put together a breakout year with 47 points in 51 games before a disappointing loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL Conference Finals. Lambos is wearing the "C" for captain in his fourth and final year of junior hockey and will look to lead the ice to a Memorial Cup before beginning his professional career.

  1. Adam Beckman, LW/C – Iowa salvaje (AHL)

Change: 21

(Video) The Minnesota Wild have the NHL's Best Prospect Pool

Height/Weight: 6-2/183

Produced: 2019 round three 75ºin general of Minnesota Wild.

Beckman is in his second year in professional hockey and after a year in the WHL with 107 points in his D+1 year, his position is in question. His offensive performance in his rookie year in the AHL was good with 34 points in 68 games. He even received a retirement from the NHL and played in three games. In his sophomore year, he continues at a similar pace with 15 points in two games and has six more NHL games to his credit.

His hockey knowledge and vision are above average, as is his shooting, which has served him well. His skating is an area of concern that makes it difficult for him to produce at the NHL level. He still has time to improve his foot speed and make an impact.

  1. Caedan Bankier, C – Kamloops-Blazer (WHL)

Change: 19
Height/Weight: 6-2/192
Produced: 2021 round three 86ºin general of Minnesota Wild

The Wild made a smart decision with Banker 86ºoverall in 2021. His recruiting year was limited due to the pandemic, but he still managed to put up 23 points in 22 games. His D+1 year was solid as well, but his final year in the WHL is having a breakthrough. He was also part of Canada's team for the WJC en route to 83 points.

A solid playmaker, Banker has size and has developed his shooting and scoring game in his senior year. He has versatile abilities; He is the offensive leader on his club team, but plays an important role for Canada in the WJC. His future in the NHL will probably look more like his role in Canada.

  1. Sammy Walker, C/RW – Iowa salvaje (AHL)

Change: 23
Height/Weight: 5-10/180
Produced: about seven 200 in 2017ºoverall Tampa Bay Lightning

The Minnesota native was originally drafted by the Lightning, but after a successful NCAA career at the University of Minnesota, where he recorded a career-high 112 points in 144 games with the Golden Gophers, Walker became captain. the team in three of those seasons. free agent after his fourth and final season.

Walker began his professional rookie season in the AHL and immediately transitioned as a points-per-game player. The Wild selected him twice to the NHL and he scored the first goal of his NHL career. Walker was an impact player with the NCAA and is now at the AHL level. It remains to be seen if he can produce at the NHL level, but he will be given the opportunity.

Kyle Mestres:He had a great year in his WHL season with the Kamloops Blazers on a new team.

Hunter Haight:Like the Masters, Haight has been heating up since moving from Barrie to Saginaw, where he's scored 18 points in his first 10 games!

David Spacek:He is showing great performances in the WJC and is almost a match pointer for Sherbrooke in the QMJHL as a defenseman.

Jack Peart:Doubling down on his performance on the field as a sophomore at St. Cloud State and returning to the US in the WJC.
